The body is also laminated with a rubber compound body surface that also works as a shock absorber. It will take any sort of punishment that you throw at it.
The body is made of a special alloy of Copper Silumin Aluminum and is built like a tank. With the Nikon F4S and F4E, the weight becomes ever more apparent. And with the larger battery pack/motor drive variants viz. Continuing on the legacy of the Nikon F3, the Nikon F4 was meant solely for professionals. The Nikon F4 was by no means designed with beginners or amateurs in mind.
